There are many reasons why people write songs. To sing to their children, to tell life stories, family stories, or day to day stories, to express great joy or pain, to paint a picture, to describe a place. Song is the most original form of communication, and through songs, stories have been passed down through generations of families and have travelled across countries.
I can get you started on your journey or guide you in your journey. I am an award winning songwriter who has been writing, touring and recording songs for 25 years. I have been teaching voice, guitar and songwriting for 15years. If you play an instrument that’s great, but it’s not necessary. Many songs are written with only the voice.
We’ll explore the art of writing songs including:
lyric writing,
rhyming,
melody
,song structure
,subject matter,
how to channel your emotions, views, stories and ideas into your songs.
We also learn about collaboration and how to work with a partner and in a group. We’ll do simple recordings of the songs as part of the class.
I am also happy to do classes on demand for groups of 3 people or more.
These can be in your home or office or at my home studio
I also coach songwriters who are already writing songs but need some guidance or outside ears.
